NetworkNewsBreaks – EVIO, Inc. (EVIO) Posts Fiscal Q2 2018 Financial Results

EVIO, Inc. (OTCQB: EVIO), a leading provider of cannabis testing and scientific research for the regulated cannabis industry, this morning announced financial and operating results for the quarter and six months ended March 31, 2018. Among other highlights, the company reported revenue for the second quarter of $732,311, a decrease of $56,415 or 12.1% from the second quarter last year. Revenue from the six months ending March 31, 2018, however, was $1,679,176, an increase of $177,997 or 11.9% from the same period in 2017. “EVIO’s second quarter focused greatly on broadening the company’s portfolio. With our recent private placement of $5.973 million, we expanded the company’s footprint by acquiring additional labs, namely in California, a market that we have identified as having unparalleled potential,” EVIO CEO William Waldrop stated in the news release. “We expect the state of California to enforce mandated compliance testing by July 1, 2018. With operational facilities in both Humboldt and Berkeley and the goal of further expansion into the state, we feel like EVIO is well-positioned to meet California’s demand for cannabis testing. Another significant milestone was our entrance into the Canadian market and launched EVIO Canada with the acquisition of Keystone Labs ahead of the country’s legalization of adult recreational use this summer.”

Turkey marks 2nd anniversary of thwarting violent coup

Jul 15, 2018

ISTANBUL — With prayers and other events, Turkey on Sunday commemorated the second anniversary of thwarting a coup against the Turkish president and the government that left nearly 290 people dead and hundreds wounded. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey has "cut off the arms of the octopus the cursed in Pennsylvania grew with hypocrisy, tricks, lies and within big secrecy." He was referring to Fethullah Gulen, the U.S.-based cleric Turkey blames for the coup, and said the government has brought down Gulen's network within the public and private sector. Erdogan, who won re-election last month and sworn into office...

Friday's suicide bombing in Mastung district took place as the Baluchistan Awami Party's candidate Siraj Raisani was holding a rally. Another 300 people were wounded. The deadly attacks occurred just hours before Pakistan's disgraced prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan from London...

Protests in southern Iraq to demand better services, jobs

Jul 15, 2018

BAGHDAD — Iraqis demanding better public services and jobs took to the streets for the sixth day on Sunday in the southern oil-rich province of Basra, as authorities put security forces on high alert and blocked the internet in the country's Shiite heartland. The protests come at a sensitive time as Iraq awaits the final results of a partial recount of the ballots from May's national elections before a new government can be formed. The elections, the fourth since the U.S.-led invasion that toppled ruler Saddam Hussein, saw the lowest turnout in 15 years and were marred with allegations of...

Young Nubians revive dream of returning to land in Egypt

Jul 15, 2018

ASWAN, Egypt — The world of their parents and grandparents was turned upside down more than 50 years ago when they were evacuated from villages along the Nile River to make way for the High Dam. Now a younger generation has revived the long-dormant cause of Egypt's Nubians, campaigning for a return to their lands and struggling to preserve their culture. Their timing could not have been worse. Recent peaceful marches by Nubians were met by swift suppression from the government of President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, which has shown little tolerance for dissent. To a state dominated by the military and...
