The launch of this course will continue to add a knowledge base and skill set to practitioners around the world. Bowen is a resource for holistic, natural pain management for patients and their families. They help patients and their families feel empowered on their journey to wellness.

The Practitioner Assessment Skills Course is broken up into several modules. Module 1 is focused on a general assessment that includes the lower back, neck shoulders, and fascial release techniques. Module 2 deals with the lower back review, sacral, coccyx, hamstrings, knees, and ankles. Other modules deal with cranial considerations about “The hidden imposter” and “Practical Implications”.

The Practitioner Assessment Skills Course is a 5 x 1 day or 1 x 3-day program. The course is a combination of effective assessment techniques developed from many different sources. These include direct practical contact with four of Tom Bowen’s original six students, plus many other notable practitioners of Australian and overseas bodywork.

The Course plan is designed to provide an efficient and effective way of assessing clients receiving Bowen therapy with an emphasis on understanding the process of change. Based on 26 years of experience as a practitioner, the course covers assessments of all the main Bowen areas/procedures.

The assessment techniques includes visual, palpation, orthopedic, kinesiological, intuitive, fascial, hydrostatic as well as those developed by the author for own experience and that of learning from four of Mr. Bowen’s original students.

The Practitioner Assessment Skills Course will teach the student to understand a conceptual philosophy underpinning Bowen therapy both at a macro and micro level. Participants will learn to assess various parts of the body and evaluate paths of dysfunction.

They will be taught to devise appropriate treatment options and evaluate the effect of the move/s on different parts of the body during the treatment. Finally, they will be taught to re-evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment process.

The course participant will learn, be able to explain and reproduce in a manner consistent with other practitioners; subjective and objective measures defined by visual, intuitive, biomechanical, fascial, hydrostatic and kinesiological outcomes.

Developed from the experience of thousands of clinical hours as a remedial and Bowen therapist, The Practitioner Assessment Skills Course incorporates a blend of orthopedic, kinesiological, fascial and intuitive assessment techniques.

This launch of this practical course will provide the practitioner with range assessment and validation skills to enhance their practice. It is open to all practitioners, the course will cover pre and post-treatment assessments.

Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who modernized Oman, dies at 79

Apr 2, 2020

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the Mideast's longest-ruling monarch who seized power in a 1970 palace coup and pulled his Arabian sultanate into modernity while carefully balancing diplomatic ties between adversaries Iran and the U.S., has died. He was 79. The British-educated, reclusive sultan reformed a nation that was home to only three schools and harsh laws banning electricity, radios, eyeglasses and even umbrellas when he took the throne. Under his reign, Oman became known as a welcoming tourist destination and a key Mideast interlocutor, helping the U.S. free captives in Iran and Yemen and...

On streets of Tehran, relief for now at no wider conflict

Apr 2, 2020

TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian newspapers proclaimed the country's attack on U.S. forces in Iraq to be "a dark night for Americans," and Washington's "first admission of failure in history." On the bustling streets of Tehran, however, there was relief Thursday that neither side appeared primed for war. “War is not something like the ‘Call of Duty’ game," said Dara Shojaei, a 23-year-old architecture student. “It's not a game you can play to win. There's no winner.” But with the relief came some mixed feelings about how far Iran should go to avenge the killing of Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleiman,...

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — A Madrid derby will decide the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Atlético Madrid rallied with two late goals to beat Barcelona 3-2 in a back-and-forth game on Thursday, setting up a meeting against city rival Real Madrid in Sunday's final at the revamped Spanish Super Cup. Real Madrid defeated Valencia 3-1 in the first semifinal at King Abdullah Sports City stadium on Wednesday. Atlético and Real Madrid only made it to the tournament this year because the Spanish soccer federation debuted a “Final Four” format as part of a three-year lucrative deal to play in...

Soleimani, a general who became Iran icon by targeting US

Apr 2, 2020

TEHRAN, Iran — For Iranians whose icons since the Islamic Revolution have been stern-faced clergy, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani widely represented a figure of national resilience in the face of four decades of U.S. pressure. For the U.S. and Israel, he was a shadowy figure in command of Iran's proxy forces, responsible for fighters in Syria backing President Bashar Assad and for the deaths of American troops in Iraq. Solemani survived the horror of Iran’s long war in the 1980s with Iraq to take control of the Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force, responsible for the Islamic Republic’s foreign campaigns. Relatively...
